LOCATION
September 8th, 2007
Yosemite Summit is located inside the Yosemite National Park, during the prime month of May. According to www.yosemitefun.com, May is the ideal time of year to visit:
Snow is melting big time; waterfalls are nearing their peak high flows and are spectacular. Valley is greening up; trees are blooming, wildflowers are out. High country trails are accessible below 7,000 feet; higher toward the end of the month. In most years the Glacier Point and Tioga Roads are open by Memorial Day Weekend. Half Dome cables go up the week before Memorial Day weekend. Rain is very unlikely but not impossible. Temperatures are warm, but mosquitoes are not out yet. Really, this is the prime time in Yosemite. The last two weeks in May and the first two weeks in June are TOP, PRIME Yosemite time! Crowds are picking up, but they’re not so oppressive that they are a distraction.

We will be staying in a luxurious lodge inside Yosemite National Park, and only 10 miles from Yosemite Valley.

We are staying in a lodge from Scenic Wonders, specifically Yosemite Vista. There are three bedrooms that sleep eight, a full kitchen and laundry room. And a four adult hot tub on the deck, which should be nice after a day of hiking and scalling the face of Half Dome. (just kidding wives!)
This is half dome as seen from space via Google Maps.
HOTEL LODGING BEFORE & AFTER: You need to arrive no later than Saturday, May 16th, and depart no sooner than Friday, May 22nd. Hotel accomodations are arranged so that we will all be in the same hotel and to get a group discount rate. DO NOT BOOK A ROOM, it is already booked for you! You will be charged half the actual cost of the room, last year this was only about $50 per night, so plan an extra $100 for pre and post Summit lodging in Sacramento.
