WOMEN

September 6th, 2008

By Popular Demand, we have created a similar event for women hosted by Kim Bobb, Pastor to Children & Their Families at New Albany First Church of the Nazarene.

Unbridled

May 18th - 20th, 2009
(Monday - Wednesday)
Circleville, Ohio

It is called UNBRIDLED. (Yes, horses included!)

Dates: Monday through Wednesday

Location: This retreat takes place at 3P Ranch in Circleville, Ohio, about 40 miles South of Columbus.

kim1.jpgRiding: We will be riding horses at a horse training and riding ranch. We will have time for lots of learning and fun together.  Don’t let your inexperience keep you from joining us on this trip.  There will be plenty of time to get acquainted with the horses.

Lodging: Included! We will stay at the Holiday Inn Express located in Circleville, Ohio.  Reservations will be made for you when you register.  This cost is included in your registration fee.

Meals: All meals will be included in your registration price with the exception of lunch on Monday.  Please feel free to bring snacks with you.

We will meet at the Holiday Inn Express at 10:30am on Monday, May 18th and travel together to 3P Ranch.  We will stop on the way for lunch.  Please come dressed to ride as we will be doing so upon arriving to the Ranch.

Below is a suggested list of what to bring to Unbridled. Here are some of the guidelines to keep in mind, in the spirit of “stepping away from ministry”.

What to bring:

  • CLOTHES
    • Jeans (at least 3 pair)
    • Wind-breaker water-proof jacket
    • Casual pants, evening pants (sweats, PJs)
    • Boots for riding with a flat heel
    • Casual shoes for evening/travel
    • Riding Helmet (suggested but not required)
    • T-shirts, sweat shirts for riding and sitting by the fire
    • Cotton Socks (several pair)
    • Underwear (do I really need to list this?)
    • Synthetic long underwear optional- depending on the weather
    • Bathing Suit (for pool at hotel)
    • Hat suggested (ball cap or cowboy hat)
    • Sunglasses, perhaps with lanyard
    • Personal toiletries (tooth brush!)
    • Back Pack to take items to and from the ranch
    • Minor First Aid items
    • ANY personal medication
    • NOTE: bedding and towels ARE provided, but you are welcome to bring your own towels or pillow if you are sentimentally attached or need the lingering scent of your hubby.
  • EQUIPMENT (required)
    • Riding Boots with a flat heel
    • Jeans
  • EQUIPMENT (recommended)
    • iPod / MP3 Player (charger)
    • Digital Camera
    • Extra memory cards
    • Memory card reader
    • Thumb Drive for sharing pics
    • Extra batteries
    • Sun Block
    • Poncho (thin, small)
    • Bug Spray
    • Back Pack
  • EQUIPMENT OPTIONAL
    • Video camera (if small, but we will have a group video camera for highlight video)
    • Saddle and Saddle Pads (will be provided if you do not own)
    • Power Strip (for charging items)
    • Cell Phone / Charger (cell coverage rare)
    • Batteries (as needed)
  • RETREAT ITEMS
    • Bible (small and portable)
    • Pens
    • Journal
  • FOOD
    • All meals from Monday dinner through Wednesday lunch are included.
    • Feel free to bring drinks and snacks with you.
    • Water bottles are highly recommended. You will need to drink a lot of water.
  • CELL PHONES
    • There is little to very little cell coverage in Circleville and where there is, it is sporadic. There is NONE at the Ranch. Other than emergencies, calls will be restricted to Husbands/family. A few cell phones will be carried on the rides for emergency use only. We are turning off the outside world; but having phones available for emergencies is simply wise, and calling our husbands is simply kind.

What NOT to bring:

  • Work - of any kind!
  • Laptops computers / PDAs. (leave it behind)
  • There WILL BE a computer at the hotel for the SOLE PURPOSE of downloading your digital pictures from the day. Each attendee will get a CD of their photography, and of the others willing to share.
  • Work - worth mentioning again - that is the whole point of this retreat, you are not the sum of your work, you are a child of God and this is a retreat for reconnecting the woman with God, not the worker.
  • Reading material - No children’s ministry or leadership books allowed! It is fine if you want to bring a book that deals with your walk with God but even just a Bible is perfectly fine! You are not coming to improve your ministry or leadership skills, you are coming on this retreat to get closer to God.

  • Thank you SO much for thinking of us ladies!!! This is what I’ve been waiting for and I know that God is going to bless the attendees greatly! I’ll be praying for all that go. However, I’m going to have to sit this one out due to my immense fear of horses. God willing, I’ll be there next time! Many blessings Kidology Crew!

  • I also was wishing for a “women’s conference”. But I already have commitments for that time period. Give us next years dates earlier so we can block the dates out and be there! God bless all of you who worked to make this happen. I hope that many can attend this year so we can start this yearly event!!

  • I agree with Lindsey on the thank you! I’m not afraid of horses, but I don’t love them enough to spend my retreat time with them. I do plan to retreat with some friends later in the year. Thanks for putting something together!

  • Please do it again next year! I’d absolutely LOVE to attend this retreat! Unfortunately won’t be able to . If you do this next year, I’m there!

  • I would LOVE to come to this retreat (I adore horses and I think it would be the most relaxing way to renew and replenish my passion for ministry). however the funds are an issue for me- I just cant justify spending that much on myself when there are so many other things the church needs (and I certainly can’t swing it personally). Great idea, though! All you ladies will be in my prayers - have a wonderful retreat!

  • I hope that you will offer this again next year or during the summer. Work won’t allow me to be off during the week. This sounds like it would be an awesome experience.

  • I would love to do this…. I can’t this year. But I hope that you offer something like it next year!
